Hema will share her story behind launching inSpur to inspire and empower, underrepresented and underutilised Skilled Millennial Migrants from the Asian Continent – Hema Kangeson (Career Coach/Mentor, inSpur)
Now that you’re here… what’s next? Can your degree get you there?
Disappointing your parents until you’re happy
Going against the conventional pathway, fighting the internal and external battles of expectations and previous milestones. Learning to f***up everything as you go and being accountable for your results.
– Michael Huskii (Co-Founder, Valyou X – StartUp)
As an international student, finding a dream job in Australia can be very difficult. And these difficulties can come from a number of factors, like language barrier or even your qualifications which you have just earned in Australia! If there is one big lesson I’ve learnt as an international student as well as someone who has been working in education for the past 15 years,
is that education is never a magic answer to get you that perfect dream job! Planning, hardwork and networks is required to compliment the education.
– Burim Boonwirat (Mgr-University Engagement, Open Universities Australia)
A bit about the speakers :
Burim
Burim is currently the Manager, University Engagement, at Open Universities Australia. He’s been working in education most of his career, starting from a small private provider to Bond University, RMIT University and the University of Melbourne. His career in education starts in sales and marketing and evolved to student administration and program management, to product and business development, and now client relationship management.
Originally from Thailand, Burim came to Australia in 2001. He completed the Master of Marketing from Victoria University in 2002 and like many of you, decided to call Australia home! With his own experience as an international student, combined with his sales and marketing background, Burim’s passion is all about finding the right education program to fit the needs of students. How can students achieve their goal through education? This eventually lead from his early career in student recruitment to product design and finally his current role in client relationship management.
Michael
Understanding the roadblocks, hardship and sacrifies of migrant parents and seeing first hand the realities of third world hardship in Vietnam at a young age, Michael was determined to make a difference to his family and the lives of others. Battling the security and passion debate throughout his education he knew he wanted to bring value in the areas of art, creativity and culture.
Michael is a second generation millennial Vietnamese Australian. He is the co-founder of Multi-Award Winning Startup Valyou X, The Worlds first Music Artist Stock market utilising the blockchain technology.
